Here are some tips for preparing for first paper of Lok Sewa Ayog exams
1. Be well-known about types of questions asked :
There are a various types of questions that are asked in a 100 full marks set of question in the first paper of Lok Sewa Ayog examination. You should first be well-known about what type of questions and how many each question from each type is asked. The questions asked are from General Knowledge (GK), Science, Math, Intelligence questions (IQ) and from English. Be known on type of questions asked.
2. Create a practical study plan:
We have seen that we usually spend more time in planning than actually processing those plans in practical. Planning is art of the possible. So, create a plan which can be successfully processed and done practically. Give more time to topics which you find difficult. If you make a plan to master type of question and topic that you find difficult will be a great achievement for you as other portions will already be easy for you. Make a stepwise plan starting to master from more difficult to lesser difficult one.
3. Know your strength and weakness:
We all have some specific strengths and also specific weaknesses. It almost certain that if we are not clear on our weaknesses then we are not clear on our strengths also. Playing to our strengths and sailing through the weaknesses is the best exam strategy we can plan on. So before you start our preparation it is necessary we identify your strengths and weaknesses. 4. Use fewer books as reference for theory:
We have a number of exam preparation books in market. Each book and each author differ in their writing and presenting skills relating to theory portion of any subject and topic. So, try to use as fewer books as possible to refer to your theory. This will help you make a smooth state of mind for that topic and not jumble up the presentation ideas of different author for the same topic.
5. Read the questions carefully:
This happens to be the most common mistake any person makes in exams like Lok sewa ayog exams. The examinee is so hurried and worried about limited time provided to them, they don’t even read the questions carefully and start finding the solution for that. This may not only lead to wrong answer but also will be a loss of time as it may lead to retry after making mistake. So, at first step itself read the questions carefully, it may take only 5-10 more seconds. This extra investment of seconds will save your time and answers in better way.
6. Practice more type of questions during preparation:
There are many books that provide different levels of questions. It is not to say that you should practice all those questions from those books. But, a good strategy will be to sort out questions that are of different difficulty level and also most probable ones for exam. Don’t waste time trying to practice each and every questions in the practice sets (mainly in math and IQ type questions). Be selective, but strategically.
7. Note-taking habit:
While studying any topic make habit of note-taking. Note taking can be done in any form like using flash card or may be simply coping in blank page but do it systematically. Note-taking can be done for subject matters like math formulas, some important events that may be asked in GK and some IQ question strategy that may be useful in exam. This will be helpful for revision at last hour of preparation and do not have to turn bulky books again.
8. Practice, Practice, Practice:
Finally, there is no substitute for practice. 70% of exam preparation is practice. Practicing different sorts of questions of math and IQ is very important. Practice of English portion with grammar and reading passage is also necessary to develop good skill to solve more and more English questions correctly.
